St. Matthew Cathedral Parish will again sponsor a giving tree to benefit the Crib Club of the Women’s Care Center (WCC). From humble beginnings in 1984 in South Bend, the WCC has grown into the nation’s largest pregnancy resource center. Among the many initiatives of the WCC, one specifically, the Crib Club, assists with the material needs of mothers and children. Knowing that someone cares and the availability of tangible assistance are two of the main reasons many women choose life for their unborn babies when faced with an unexpected pregnancy.

The Crib Club does not distribute items on a handout basis, but uses an incentive program in which pregnant women and parents of young children earn vouchers by attending prenatal appointments, educational classes and participating in other activities that foster good parenting. The vouchers are used to “purchase” items such as diapers, formula, clothing and many other necessities offered through the Crib Club. This system promotes healthy pregnancies and positive early childhood years for both parents and children.

Please join the St. Matthew parish community by picking an ornament from the giving tree and purchasing the item listed for donation to the Crib Club. The tree and a collection bin for donations are located in the Miami Street vestibule. You may drop the gifts off in the bin or at the rectory. Please do not wrap the donations.

NEW FOR 2018:
The envelopes provided for monetary donations are pre-addressed to the WCC. Please mail donations directly to the center and do not drop these envelopes off at the rectory or into the Sunday collection basket.

Thank you for your cooperation and also, for your generous support and commitment to the culture of life. May God bless you and your families this holy season.
