In the name of Father Tom Jones, Father Mark Thesing, Deacon Fred Everett, Sister Gianna Marie and in my own name we wish you all a most joy filled and Happy Easter.
After forty long days of Fasting, Prayer, and Alms Giving we now celebrate the joy of Easter. And once again we announce that we are an Alleluia people. A people set apart, a people who believe, and a people of hope and promise. We believe that we too will one day be raised and live with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and all the Angels and Saints forever.
What we have begun in the Lenten season we continue now. The things that challenged us to change we continue the challenge. Our challenge now is to put into practice the things we worked on in the Lenten Season. Maybe it was attending an extra Mass a week, or giving a little extra to the church, or helping to feed the poor or volunteering for some extra duties to help others. Whatever we may have begun let us continue to work on in the coming year.
Our work of evangelization never ceases and we must continue to encourage others by our lives and actions to live out the Gospel message. At the Chrism Mass in his beautiful homily the Bishop reminded us that we are a people of hope and he encouraged us to find that peace that comes through prayer and closeness to the Lord. Also, to encourage those who feel lost during this time to return to the Church and be active. He also reminded us of the words of Jesus when He said that the jaws of Hell will not prevail over the Church that He founded. A message of hope and encouragement for us all. It seems we live in crazy times and sometimes we feel discouraged and lost. However, we need to stay focused on our faith in the Lord and His promise. “ I will be with you until the end of time.”
Let us rejoice with those Baptized this Easter and those who came into the Church by making a profession of faith.
We are God's people the sheep of His flock. Alleluia!!
