The headline on the front of the Our Sunday Visitor this week reads “Holy Week at Home”. Yes, we will be spending this most Holy Week and home and with family. It is a good time for prayer and preparation for the joy of Easter. As we recall the passion death and resurrection of the Lord I encourage you to please take time to watch by streaming or by internet or You Tube or whatever the celebrations of this week. Hopefully you will be able to enter into this week by taking time in prayer and quiet. The Cathedral will be open all week as we have in the past two weeks. I cannot tell you how impressive it is to see so many who have come to the Cathedral for quiet prayer. There are cars in the parking lot and people in church from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. There are station booklets at the north side doors both for adults and for children. Please keep the recommended distance and return the booklets to the box for used booklets. This way they will not be used again for a few days in order to wipe them off.

Thanks for all of the e-mails and calls. Many people are alone and really have little contact with others. If you know of someone or wish to have names of a couple of people to call or write a note to the office can give you names and their numbers and addresses are in the parish directories you received. I had several students from our high schools call to ask what they can do. Some people need yards cleaned up or small tasks accomplished if elderly they might not be able to do. Some students are helping pass out the lunches every day that are provided by the school. A couple of students have picked up groceries for older folks after they have called in their order and delivered them to the doorsteps. So much can be done for others without cost. But most of all: Let us all keep each other in prayer. Both Father Dermot and I pray for all in the parish at each Mass we say and we both say the Mass for the intention of the day. Pray for those who have the virus and for the health and wellbeing of our health providers, nurses, doctors and all who are on the front lines in the medical profession.

Have a holy week and a beautiful Easter. Pray for one another.

Remember we are still in a time of Prayer, Fasting and Alms Giving.

Thanks to all who sent in or contributed on line last week. Our bills are ongoing also
