First of all I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Father Dermot Gahan back to Saint Matthew Parish. He arrived a month early and we were almost ready for him. As I stated in the bulletin a few weeks ago we will have him here with us until September of 2020. Anyway; it is so good to have him back in the parish.

As announced this past Sunday you can still sign up for the Bishop Crowley Golf Outing. There are applications and sign up sheets at the doors of the church. If you are not a golfer you can still contribute to the support of the tournament and the that helps the school. Your support helps with the new floors that are being installed on the first floor of the building. In the next couple of years we hope to get all the old (very old) carpeting out of all the classrooms and have new carefree floors. So any donation would help speed that along.

Speaking of school: It is not too late to sign up for our school. The school year begins in two weeks.( August 21st) We have an excellent school and teachers and administrators dedicated to Catholic Education. There are opening in most grades. If you or you know someone or family interested please call the school and make an appointment to see Sister or another administrator to help get the ball rolling.

Saint Matthew Parish has always played an integral part in the Habitat for Humanity Program in this area by volunteering time and talent to help build. We have also always taken up a second collection for funds to help support the program. We will take up the collection on the Fourth Sunday of the month of August. This is our usual collection for quarters to help those in need. I would say what better way to help than to help those in need of adequate housing.

If you did not take one of the Bishop Barron's “Letter to a Suffering Church” there are still copies available in the vestibules of the church. It is a worth while read and I highly recommend it.

Our world and country are both in great need of prayers. We have adoration of the Blessed Sacrament each Wednesday evening ( except on “Dinner and a Speaker Wednesday) from 6pm-7pm with the Sacrament of Confession available… Come spend some time in with the Lord.
