“Where two or more are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”

Prayer Blankets are an expression of care and concern for those challenged by a serious illness or tragedy. Blessed by a priest, they bring comfort and hope for true prayer seeks God’s will in all things; to share God’s gifts, to treasure love and forgiveness, mercy and reconciliation.

Approximately 27 x 36 inches, the blankets are made of fleece and are decorated with a cross representing the love of Christ and a heart representing the love and concern of the Saint Matthew Cathedral Family. Tucked inside the blanket along with a prayer, is an explanation of the blanket. A registry of names and recipients is kept in order to continue to remember daily in prayers all who have received one.

Prayer Blankets are available to members of Saint Matthew Cathedral and their families, including parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. They may be obtained on the tables in the vestibule of the Cathedral before or after Mass. The blankets are free of charge, although anyone wishing to make a donation toward materials may do so by using the envelopes provided and placing the donation in the collection basket.
