What is Christ Child Society?
Since 1947, the primary project of the Christ Child Society in South Bend has been to provide new winter clothing to Saint Joseph County, Indiana economically disadvantaged children, from newborn through age twelve, without consideration of religion or ethnic factors. Last fall, the Christ Child volunteers clothed more than 3,200 local children with new shoes, boots, pants, shirts, uniforms, coats, hats, gloves, underwear, socks…and every child went home with a book! The Layette Program provides clothing and essentials to babies born to mothers in need. The Angel Layette Program provides a handmade gown, hat, and small blanket to all grieving families for their baby who dies at or shortly after birth. Additionally, Christ Child volunteers tutor and mentor students at St. Adalbert’s School.
Membership in Christ Child Society is open to individuals of all religious affiliations who are interested in furthering the welfare of children. To RSVP or for additional information, please call Kristy Botich at (574) 291-7523.
