The terrible plague of deadly mass shootings in our country calls us, in the words of the US bishops, “to fight this social disease that has infected our nation.” I join my voice to my brother bishops’ in inviting all to pray and work to end this culture of violence and to advocate for needed changes to prevent this scourge from continuing.
My name is Gisella Mancini. I am excited for the opportunity to be the new kindergarten teacher at your school. I have been a parishioner at St. Matthew Cathedral since the early 1990s. When I joined the parish part of my family were already parishioners. Joe and Gail Mancini as well as their three children - Blair, Stephanie and Matthew Mancini - had been parishioners and involved in the parish school. Following them to various school functions and sporting activities began my love for St. Matthew Cathedral School.

First of all I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Father Dermot Gahan back to Saint Matthew Parish. He arrived a month early and we were almost ready for him. As I stated in the bulletin a few weeks ago we will have him here with us until September of 2020. Anyway; it is so good to have him back in the parish.

St. Matthew Cathedral, in collaboration with the Knights Of Columbus Council #5521, will be participating again in the Matthew 25 Build for Habitat for Humanity. The Matthew 25 Build is sponsored each year by a number of area churches which provide volunteer and financial support. The build provides the opportunity to fulfill the dream of owning a home to a low income family that has fulfilled the requirements of hundreds of volunteer hours, showing financial responsibility, and learning home maintenance in order to qualify for an affordable mortgage. Volunteer opportunities to work on the build will be available for August 10 from 11:30 to 2:30 pm and on October 12 from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm.
